Renew Our Rivers began in 2000 as a community river cleanup organized by Alabama Power employees from Plant Gadsden concerned about litter found along the Coosa River. Today, Renew Our Rivers is one of the nation’s largest river cleanups. With the help of local community partners, volunteers and organizations, Alabama Power has coordinated more than 117,000 volunteers and removed 15.5 million pounds of trash from Southeastern waterways. This year more than 30 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.

A food truck will be on site at 6 p.m. and storytelling will begin around 6:30 p.m. Zazu’s Verandah will be selling beverages. Admission is free.

Community volunteers meet on the THIRD SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH to clean area roadsides. Volunteers meet at Broad Street Plaza in downtown Alex City (in front of Jake's/Anytime Fitness) at 8:30 am to receive trash picking supplies including pickers and bags as well as direction on focus areas for that month's clean up.
Have an area you and/or a group of volunteers would like to focus on? Excellent! We will be happy to provide bags, pickers and safety vests.

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis (JLCO) comprises 15 of the finest jazz soloists and ensemble players today. Led by Wynton Marsalis, this remarkably versatile orchestra performs a vast repertoire ranging from original compositions and Jazz at Lincoln Center-commissioned works to rare historic compositions and masterworks by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson, Thelonious Monk, Mary Lou Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Charles Mingus and many others.

The JLCO has been the Jazz at Lincoln Center resident orchestra since 1988, performing and leading educational events in New York, across the U.S. and around the globe. Alongside symphony orchestras, ballet troupes, local students, and an ever-expanding roster of guest artists, the JLCO has toured more than 300 cities across six continents.

In 2015, Jazz at Lincoln Center announced the launch of Blue Engine Records, a new platform to make its archive of recorded concerts available to jazz audiences everywhere. The first release from Blue Engine Records, Live in Cuba, was recorded on a historic 2010 trip to Havana by JLCO and was released in October 2015. To date, JLCO has released 14 other recordings internationally.

With the world-renowned JLCO and a comprehensive array of guest artists, Jazz at Lincoln Center advances a unique vision for the continued development of the art of jazz by producing a year-round schedule of performance, education and broadcast events for audiences of all ages. This concert experience is an event to be treasured by all lovers of jazz music.

Our Derby Day party is like none other. We encourage everyone to wear some Derby attire, from sear sucker suits and buckskin shoes to unique hats, there are prizes for great all! We have the most awesome mint juleps, pimento cheese stuffed eggs, a sweet or two and more. If you haven’t been to Derby Day at The Stables, why not give it a try! It is fun, we do raise money for our friends at Children’s Harbor (Ask for details, but it involves you bringing a few five-dollar bills along.), and if you choose, you don’t have to spend a dime.

•Shuttles will be provided to and from put-in and take-outlocations.

Clean Community Project will host first Saturday cleanups every month at 8:30 a.m. Meet at Dadeville City Hall to sign in and receive trash picking supplies and routes. There will be a trash bag drop-off on site and sanitized pickers. For more information, contact Dianna Porter at 256-750-0075.

Music? Song? Standup Comedy? Story Telling? Poetry? Rock & Roll? Country? Blues? Bluegrass? Gospel? Karaoke? ... Only One Rule - "Keep It Family Friendly" !!!

All Musicians - Bring what ya got, or plug into what we have. We can do solo performance for the audience, - or we can just open up and jam with each other and see what happens. Spread the word, and invite all of your friends!
Everyone else, please come support your local musicians!

No cover, but we provide monthly entertainment solely through audience donations. ... Your suggested donation of $5 to $10 per person will help keep this thing going for next month.
